ACQUISITION OF CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES AUTHORISED
The meeting of the Competition Council passed the decisions authorising concentration transactions.
1. Authorisation granted to UAB MG Baltic Investment to implement concentration by acquiring up to 100 % of UAB Mitnija, which, in accordance with the submitted notification, is rendering construction services. The Competition Council assessed the intended concentration as conglomerate not causing any major changes in the degree of concentration of the construction services markets, therefore the deal will not result in a creation or strengthening of the dominant position or a significant weakening of competition in the relevant markets.
As indicated in the notification the concentration is being effected by UAB MG Baltic Investment with a view to invest into the perspective construction business.
2. The Competition Council examined the notification of 28-02-2006 on intended concentration submitted by UAB Dalhgera the primary area of business whereof is the wholesale of incommodities related to heating, ventilation and sanitary maintenance, water supply, sewerage and pipelines. The filer intends to acquire the business of UAB Statgera ir partneriai, engaged in distribution of heating, ventilation and sanitary items in Lithuania. The authority decided to authorise the concentration under the terms of the notification, based on the finding that the transaction will not create or strengthen the dominant position or cause any lessening of competition in the relevant markets.
As indicated in the concentration notification filed by UAB Dalhgera the intended concentration is part of the continuous strategy pursued by to expand the distribution of the construction materials on the international scale. Saint-Gobain Group is a well-established distributor and producer of construction materials, owning, via LVI-Dahl Oy (distributor of construction products in Finland and Estonia), the Lithuanian company.
