CAR TRADING COMPANIES RECEIVE MERGER CLEARANCE

Konkurencijos taryba cleared the acquisition of vehicle trading business of Estonian Aktsiaselts Silberauto, Silberauto Estonia AS, Silwi Autoehituse Aktsiaselts and Lithuanian Silberauto by the Finland-based firm Veho Oy Ab.

On 9 October 2019 Konkurencijos taryba received merger notification. Having evaluated the circumstances related to the transaction, the authority acknowledged that the intended merger would not create or strengthen the dominant position, or significantly restrict competition in the relevant markets.

Veho Oy Ab is engaged in the wholesale trade of commercial and passenger vehicles, as well as spare parts through its affiliate VEHO Eesti AS.

Aktsiaselts Silberauto is a wholesaler of new passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, spare parts and accessories in Estonia and Lithuania (sales to its related company Silberauto).

The main activity of Silberauto Estonia AS is retail trade of new and used passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, spare parts and accessories in Estonia.

Silberauto engages in the retail trade of commercial and passenger cars, spare parts, as well as provides car repair and rental services in Lithuania.

Silwi Autoehituse Aktsiaselts provides car restoration and specialized vehicle construction services in Estonia.

The intended merger must be notified to Konkurencijos taryba and clearance must be obtained if the combined aggregate income of merging parties in the business year preceding the merger exceeds EUR 20 million and the aggregate income of each of at least two merging parties in the business year preceding the merger exceeds EUR 2 million.
