CHAIRMAN OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL – A PARTICIPANT IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

On May 3-5, Rimantas Stanikūnas, Chairman of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania will participate in the 5th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference will be hosted among other by the Competition Commission and Competition Tribunal of South Africa.

The agenda of the Conference includes the discussion of various issues relevant and important to many States intensively developing their economies. Among other items there will be discussions on possible amendments to the provisions of the competition law and policy possibly facilitating the development of economy in the developed and the developing countries and which restrictions should be eliminated in order to ensure the maximum benefit derived from the implementation of the competition policy.

The ICN is representative of the vast majority of the world’s competition authorities. Within the few years of its existence, the ICN has become the premier international discussion forum on competition issues.
