COMPETITION COUNCIL AUTHORISED THE ACQUISITION OF LIETUVOS AVIALINIJOS BY LAL INVESTICIJŲ VALDYMAS

The meeting of the Competition Council examined the notification of 18-07-2005 filed by UAB LAL investicijų valdymas on concentration through the acquisition of a 100 % shareholding of the national air carrier AB Lietuvos avialinijos. The Council passed the decision to authorise the concentration concerned in accordance with the submitted notification.

The intended concentration was assessed by the Competition Council as conglomerate concentration not changing the degree of concentration in the relevant markets therefore not resulting in a creation or strengthening of a dominant position or a significant lessening of competition therein.

As indicated in the submitted notification on concentration the main objective of UAB LAL investicijų valdymas acquiring the controlling interest and other undertakings related thereto is investment into AB Lietuvos avialinijos with a view to turning it into one more competitive undertaking of Lithuanian capital operating in the European Union and other markets.
