COMPETITION COUNCIL CLEARS ACQUISITION OF SC LIETUVOS DUJOS SHARES BY LIETUVOS ENERGIJA
The Competition Council (the KT) cleared acquisition of 38.91 per cent of SC Lietuvos dujos shares by JSC Lietuvos energija (all the company‘s shares together with already owned ones will amount to 56.61 per cent). Hence, together with OAO Gazprom, JSC Lietuvos energija gained joint control of SC Lietuvos dujos.
Moreover, the KT allowed JSC Lietuvos energija to acquire 100 per cent of SC Lietuvos dujos shares and, thus, gain sole control of the latter company.
JSC Lietuvos energija controls companies engaged in electric power and heat generation as well as supply, electricity and heat retail and wholesale trade, electricity distribution, etc. JSC Lietuvos energija is a state-owned company controlled by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.
SC Lietuvos dujos provides services of natural gas supply and distribution.
Having evaluated all the circumstances related to the merger, the KT acknowledged that the intended merger will not create or strengthen the dominant position, or significantly restrict competition in the relevant markets.
