COMPETITION COUNCIL CONFIRMS UNANNOUNCED INSPECTIONS OF THE BREWING COMPANIES

24 07 2013

The Competition Council (Konkurencijos taryba, KT) confirms that on 16 July 2013 the authorised officials of the KT carried out inspections in the premises of certain brewing companies. The KT has concerns that the companies may have violated Article 5 of the Law on Competition that prohibits anti-competitive agreements.

Unannounced inspections are a preliminary step into suspected anticompetitive practices. The fact that the KT carries out such inspections does not mean that the companies are guilty of anti-competitive behaviour nor does it prejudge the outcome of the investigation itself.
