COMPETITION COUNCIL SIGNED COLLABORATION AGREEMENT WITH PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OFFICE AND SPECIAL INVESTIGATION SERVICE
Heads of the Competition Council, the Public Procurement Office and the Special Investigation Service have signed a collaboration agreement.
The agreement will enable institutions to share their expertise and information necessary for conducting investigations into corruption, breaches of public procurement, collusive bid-rigging, as well as enhance staff qualifications.
The institutions will implement the agreement on a rotating basis: the Competition Council will start supervising the agreement in 2017, the Public Procurement Office will take over in 2018, and the Special Investigation Service – in 2019.
The aim of such interinstitutional collaboration is to fight against cartels and corruption in public procurement. The initiative was introduced by the Competition Council and developed in close partnership with the participants of the programme for professional development and enhancement of national competitiveness Povilas Bakas and Mark Siavris.
