COMPETITION COUNCIL TERMINATES EXAMINATION OF A MERGER WITHIN THE PASSANGER TRANSPORT SECTOR
After JSC Kautra (Kautra) had abandoned its inentions to acquire up to 100 per cent of JSC Tolimojo keleivinio transporto kompanija (TOKS) shares, the Competition Council (KT) terminated the examination of the intended merger.
Kautra provides specialised and charter passenger carrying services, regular services on local, long-distance and international routes, small parcel delivery services and other services related to passenger transportation.
TOKS provides specialised and charter passenger carrying services, regular services on local, long-distance and international routes as well as small parcel delivery services. The company is engaged in bus station management, provides roadside assistance and other services related to transportation.
Having conducted the preliminary examination of the intended merger, the KT found that the merger could create or strengthen the dominant position, or significantly restrict competition within certain markets of regular passenger carrying services on local, long-distance and international routes, wherein both companies operate.
