FOR THE ATTENTION OF MEDIA: COMPETITION COUNCIL INVITES TO THE EUROPEAN COMPETITION DAY CONFERENCE

The Competition Council kindly invites media representatives to register to the Lithuanian Presidency’s European Competition Day which will be held on 3 October 2013.

Among the speakers of the conference – Vice President and Commissioner for Competition, Joaquin Almunia, representatives of the Microsoft Corporation, leaders of Belgian, French, Netherlands and Swedish competition authorities as well as competition law practitioners and academics.

During the conference experts of competition law and economy from the entire EU will discuss recent issues and share their experience on competition law enforcement and competition policy developments.

Conference venue: Šarūnas Hotel, Raitininkų str. 4, Vilnius.

Topics to be discussed during the conference are the following:

· Independence of Competition Authorities;

· Private Antitrust Enforcement;

· High Pricing: What is the role for competition authorities?
