INVESTIGATION ON POSSIBLE INFRINGEMENT OF THE LAW ON ADVERTISING

Upon a customer‘s complaint the Competition Council resolved to initiate an investigation concerning the advertising campaign launched by AB SEB Vilniaus bankas and UAB Statoil Lietuva. These two companies in the period from 1 April to 31 May 2006 were executing an advertising campaign stating: Use any SEB Vilniaus bankas VISA card and get a 7 ct/l discount in all Statoil and 1-2-3 gas stations. Based on the information received from the consumer and acting in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Advertising, the Competition Council concluded a possibility that the advertising action implemented contains features of misleading advertising
