KONKURENCIJOS TARYBA WILL DEVELOP BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION OF COMPETITION OF NORTH MACEDONIA

On 17 November 2022 during an international conference on competition and consumer protection held in Tbilisi the Lithuanian Konkurencijos taryba and the Commission for Protection of Competition of North Macedonia signed a cooperation memorandum. The authorities agreed to promote cooperation in the field of competition policy and competition law enforcement, as well as to strengthen bilateral relations.

By signing a memorandum, the parties agreed to cooperate and exchange non-confidential information on legislative developments, share experience the field of investigations regarding the infringements of competition rules, organise study visits and expert training. The memorandum also establishes that representatives of both authorities will attend international conferences and seminars organised by the parties, will hold consultations between experts on relevant issues of mutual interest, etc.

In the field of international cooperation, Konkurencijos taryba is constantly exchanging best practice and strengthening relations with foreign institutions, i.e. in the form of bilateral agreements, for example, with the Anti-monopoly Committee of Ukraine, the Competition Agency of Georgia, or in relation to international projects, currently in Ukraine, Kosovo and Georgia. Besides, in August–September 2022 Konkurencijos taryba hosted two delegations from the Kosovo Competition Authority and State Aid Department, as well as from the Armenian Competition Protection Commission, whose experts got acquainted with the activities and practice of Konkurencijos taryba and other Lithuanian institutions.
