OFFICIALS OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL ASSISTED THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION IN CONDUCTING THE INSPECTION

15 03 2011

The Competition Council hereby confirms that in the period 8-10 March 2011 officials of the Competition Council of Lithuania were assisting the EC Directorate General for Competition in conducting the inspection. The European Commission undertook unannounced inspections at the premises of companies active in the rail freight sector and related products industry in Baltic countries. The Commission has reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated EU antitrust rules. The official notice of the European Commission on the inspection is available at:

http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=MEMO/11/152&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

In its press release the European Commission notices that fact that the Commission carries out such inspections does not mean that the companies are guilty of anti-competitive behaviour nor does it prejudge the outcome of the investigation itself.
