SOBIESKI DYSTRYBUCJA ALLOWED TO ACQUIRE VILNIAUS DEGTINE DISTILLERY SHARES

Lithuania’s Competition Council has authorised the acquisition of an 82.27-percent stake in distillery Vilniaus Degtine by Sobieski Dystrybucja. The Council desided that the privatisation deal would have a marginal effect on the degree of share concentration and no dominating situation would be created or competition restricted on any market. The Competition Council received a request from Poland’s Sobieski Dystrybucja Sp.z.o.o. when this company was selected by the State Assets Fund as the winner of a public tender for the acquisition of the 82.27-percent stake in the Lithuanian distillery. The Lithuanian government approved the draft stock sale agreement on August 6.
