THE COMPETITION COUNCIL INVITES TO THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES AND THE SUPERVISION OF DIGITAL MARKETS

On 12 September, the Competition Council will host the traditional Baltic Competition Conference (BCC), where professionals from the fields of competition law, economics, and other areas will discuss current issues in competition policy, with a particular focus on the regulation of association activities and digital markets.

In the first part of the event, representatives from Lithuania’s public and private sectors, as well as members of international organisations, will discuss topics concerning the activities of associations that are relevant both to companies aiming to effectively represent common interests and to institutions involved in legislative processes or investigating potential legal violations. Participants from the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Lithuanian Business Confederation, the Lithuanian Startup Association, and "Transparency International" will discuss the significance of lobbying, explore the challenges business associations face in balancing effective collaboration and ensuring compliance with competition rules.

Considering the recent legal regulations introduced in the European Union and the growing presence of e-commerce, the second part of the BCC will focus on the supervision of digital markets. Experts from the European Commission, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, and the Lithuanian private sector will discuss the importance of effective competition in digital markets, explore measures that could encourage fair competition in both traditional and online environments, and address other relevant competition policy issues.

The event will take place in Lithuanian and English (with simultaneous translation).

The conference "The Known and the Unknown in Competition Law" will be held on 12 September at 1:00 PM at the "Artis Centrum Hotel" (Totorių st. 23, Vilnius). Those wishing to participate are invited to register here (or contacts@kt.gov.lt) by 9 September. Participation is free of charge. The number of seats is limited.
