THE KT LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION ON MISLEADING ADVERTISING BY UAB PIGU
Having received a complaint that the prices indicated on the website of UAB Pigu may be misleading, the Competition Council (Konkurencijos taryba, KT) launched an investigation on the alleged misleading advertising.
Having carried out a preliminary evaluation of the received information, the KT determined that UAB Pigu indicates prices of the goods sold online by comparing them with higher crossed out prices and, thus, create an impression that goods are sold at a lower price.
Having regard to the circumstances concerned and pursuant to the Law on Advertising, during the investigation the KT will evaluate whether such comparison of prices may mislead consumers.
The launch of the investigation indicates that there are grounds for a suspicion of an infringement; however, it does not mean that the infringement in question exists.
