AMENDMENTS TO THE LAW ON COMPETITION REDUCING FINES HAVE ENTERED INTO FORCE

On 1 May, amendments to the Law on Competition entered into force, reducing the base amount of fines imposed for infringements by half. In this context, the Government approved an updated Rules for Determining the Amount of Fines for Infringement of the Law on Competition.

The Competition Council found that Panevėžys City Municipality had violated the Law on Competition by entering into in-house transactions with a company it controlled.

PARLIAMENT APPROVES AMENDMENTS TO THE COMPETITION LAW

Today, the Seimas has adopted amendments to the Law on Competition related to the consultative function of the Competition Council and the procedure for the collection of fines and interest to the state budget in cases when the decision of the Authority is appealed to the court.
