On October 9–10 competition law experts and representatives of the European Commission, Lithuanian public and private sector gathered in the 14th Baltic Competition Conference in Vilnius to discuss how competition authorities can become better enforcers, strengthen institutional credibility and contribute to the well-being of the country and the citizens.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (hereinafter – Court) upheld the Competition Council‘s decision, according to which the security company G4S Lietuva (G4S) infringed the Law on Competition by concluding anti-competitive agreements in the market of cash-handling services and received EUR 2.7 million fine.
During the school year the Council‘s experts will be visiting a number of schools in Vilnius to teach senior pupils the principles of effective competition, its benefits for consumers, as well as help them recognise anti-competitive agreements and misleading advertising, as part of the competition advocacy project “Competition Council goes to school“.
The Competition Council found that UAB koncernas Achemos grupė implemented an unnotified merger by acquiring sole control of UAB Jūros vartai and AB KLAIPĖDOS LAIVŲ REMONTAS . For the infringement of the Law on Competition, the Council fined Achemos grupė EUR 54,700.

On July 18 the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed Elonas Šatas as Council Member of the Competition Council for the second six-year term starting on 24 August 2017.
On the eve of King Mindaugas’ Coronation Day in Lithuania, the President of the Republic of Lithuania awarded the Competition Council’s Chairman Šarūnas Keserauskas the Medal of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.
On June 14 the Chairman Šarūnas Keserauskas presented the Competition Council‘s annual report to the members of the Cabinet.
The Competition Council found that having acquired about 51 per cent of Vievio paukštynas shares and gained control over the company, Kauno grūdai implemented unnotified merger. For the infringement of the Law on Competition, the Council fined Kauno grūdai EUR 947,700.
