Vilnius Regional Administrative Court (Court) rejected a complaint by one of the occasion wear shops which was involved in a cartel that set a fixed dress try-on fee. The Court upheld the Council’s decision imposing a fine on the firm for the infringement of the Law on Competition.

CARTEL AMONG OCCASION WEAR SHOPS RESULTED IN HIGHER PRICES FOR CONSUMERS

The Competition Council found a number of occasion wear shops operating in Vilnius guilty of a cartel that set a fixed dress try-on fee for customers. Firms received fines ranging from EUR 1 to EUR 1,960, with seven out of 12 cartel members admitting the infringement.

The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (hereinafter – Court) upheld the Lithuanian Competition Council’s decision of December 12, 2014 whereby UAB AMIC Lietuva (former UAB Lukoil Baltija ) received a fine of EUR 3 297 700.

In Antitrust Writing Awards 2017 the Competition Council’s guidebook “Cooperation with public institutions: how to reduce the risks of competition law infringement?” (Guidebook) received an award for the most innovative soft law in the cross-border category. The Guidebook was assessed by 50 international antitrust experts.
