
Today Medeina Augustinavičienė has started her six-year tenure as a Council Member in Konkurencijos taryba. M. Augustinavičienė was appointed by Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, upon the proposal of the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.
On October 9–10 competition law experts and representatives of the European Commission, Lithuanian public and private sector gathered in the 14th Baltic Competition Conference in Vilnius to discuss how competition authorities can become better enforcers, strengthen institutional credibility and contribute to the well-being of the country and the citizens.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania acknowledged that in 2004 and 2005 the Minister of the Interior adopted legal acts which granted exclusive rights to the state enterprise Infostruktūra and thus restricted the freedom of economic activity. According to the Court, such legal regulation infringed the constitutional principle of the rule of law.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania upheld the Competition Council’s decision, according to which Klaipėda City Municipality breached the Law on Competition by authorising five municipal companies to provide shared taxi services without a competitive procedure.

The Competition Council (hereinafter – the Council) found that Trakai District Municipality (hereinafter – Municipality) did not create non-discriminatory conditions for undertakings willing to execute maintenance works of public areas in Trakai District and, thus, failed to comply with the obligations imposed by the Council.
