The Lithuanian competition authority Konkurencijos taryba and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy successfully completed the European Union Twinning Project in Ukraine.
This September the Council‘s experts embarked on a mission to teach Vilnius pupils more about fair competition and its benefits brought to business and consumers, which appeared to be something that is self-evident to them.
On December 5 the Lithuanian Competition Council joined the rest of the world to celebrate the World Competition Day and reminded the society that #CompetingIsHealthy, #CompetingIsWorthwhile, #CompetingIsBeneficial .
During the school year the Council‘s experts will be visiting a number of schools in Vilnius to teach senior pupils the principles of effective competition, its benefits for consumers, as well as help them recognise anti-competitive agreements and misleading advertising, as part of the competition advocacy project “Competition Council goes to school“.
On the eve of King Mindaugas’ Coronation Day in Lithuania, the President of the Republic of Lithuania awarded the Competition Council’s Chairman Šarūnas Keserauskas the Medal of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.
On June 14 the Chairman Šarūnas Keserauskas presented the Competition Council‘s annual report to the members of the Cabinet.
March 20 marked the end of the EU Twinning Project on building the administrative capacities of the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA). The Lithuanian Competition Council participated in the 2-year-long project together with the German Competition Authority.
On February 28 the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (Court) upheld the Competition Council’s decision of 10 December 2015 whereby UAB Mediashop (Company) was fined EUR 2 244 for misleading advertising.
The Competition Council‘s Chairman Šarūnas Keserauskas (hereinafter – Chairman) met with Visvaldas Matijošaitis, Mayor of Kaunas City Municipality (hereinafter – Municipality), to discuss competition law issues and suggest solutions to competition problems in the Municipality.
Šarūnas Keserauskas, Chairman of the Competition Council (hereinafter – the Council), presented the authority‘s achievements of 2015 to the members of the Cabinet.
The Competition Council brings real benefits to consumers – after its intervention the Austrian online store www.ecco-verde.com restored the shipping of cosmetic products to Lithuania.
